Gas Logs Dallas TX: A Safe Alternative to Conventional Fireplaces

A gas fireplace using gas logs in Dallas TX is a safe, attractive alternative to a conventional wood-burning fire. Enjoy a cozy holiday season in front of your gas fireplace with realistic-looking birch, split wood or oak gas logs. You won’t need to deal with sparks, constant clean-ups or fire risks. And they give off twice the heat of wood logs.

Vented or Vent-Free Gas Logs: What’s the Difference?
Choose from a variety of gas logs in Dallas TX for your vented or vent-free gas fireplace. Although both types of gas fireplaces and logs are cleaner and heat your home more efficiently than traditional fireplaces, there are a few differences to consider.
What are Vented Gas Logs?
Vented gas logs look like real wood logs. They use a sand and a metal pan (sometimes referred to as a sand pan burner set) to manufacture more natural-looking flames. Vented gas logs create black carbon deposits in the firebox and on the logs to further the appearance of a traditional wood-burning fire. A sand pan burner is usually installed in a pre-existing masonry fireplace, and your chimney’s damper must be open when it’s in use. Vented gas logs in Dallas TX include decorative Ramussen crafted ceramic logs in Prestige Oak, Real Fyre Charred Split or Split Rugged Oak or Real Fyre Burnt Heritage or Burnt Rustic Oak. All vented gas logs are available with propane or natural gas option.
What are Ventless Gas Logs?
gas logs dallas txThese gas logs use modern burner technology and a high burner temperature to ensure carbon monoxide stays at a safe level. They don’t need a flue, chimney or vent, so they’re energy-efficient, sending all heat directly into your home. Ventless gas systems have oxygen depletion sensors to stop gas flow if the pilot flame goes out or oxygen is too low. Install a carbon monoxide detector in your home, even if you have a ventless gas fireplace, as carbon monoxide leaks in the home can be caused by gas appliances or other sources. Vent-free gas logs can be heated with propane or natural gas, and come in different sizes, usually from 16” to 30”. Ventless gas logs are available in highly textured charred stacks, with extra bark pieces, Foothill Oak, Golden Oak and other realistic designs.

Gas Logs Dallas, TX: 5 Advantages of Gas Logs

The warm glow, the soft crackle, the dancing flames--there are so many reasons to purchase a set of gas logs in Dallas, TX. Maybe you noticed what was missing from that list; soot, smoke, and risk of fire are no longer concerns when you give gas logs a try. Here are five more things to remember about gas logs.

Stylish

One thing that comes with gas logs is a selection. You can choose from different textures and tones to match the interior of your gas fireplace or the color of the wall. You can find stacks of 2, 4, 6, and beyond--the size of your fireplace is really the only limitation. Rustic, modern, and traditional are a couple of looks available with gas log sets, and there are many more beyond that. You can always be sure that there are gas logs in Dallas, TX that match your decor.

Safe

No matter how many safety precautions you take, there will always be a greater risk of fire when you have a traditional fireplace. Gas logs don’t present the same hazards as wood; your chimney won't accumulate soot in the same manner as it would with a traditional fire, and there’s no concern about flying sparks.

Easy to Use

If you’ve had a traditional fireplace in the past, you know how challenging it is to maintain a blazing fire. Gas logs take the match out of your hand and replace it with a remote or an “on” switch. No more prodding, no more blowing, and no more stuffing kindling under the logs to get the flames going again.

Relatively Clean

It goes without saying that gas logs present less of a challenge in this category. Take a break from shoveling all the ashes and soot; relax with an authentic-looking set of gas logs.

They Last Longer Than Traditional Logs

Unless you have a fallen tree in your back yard (which is a different issue altogether), you probably have to purchase firewood on a regular basis. Gas logs will save you money in the long run by lasting far longer than traditional logs.

They Look Real

We already discussed the different styles gas logs come in, but did you realize that gas logs look just like real ones? You can choose from different tree types, such as oak or cherry, and the logs are often available with realistic touches like bark and ax marks.

GAS LOGS IN DALLAS, TX: ALL ABOUT GAS FIREPLACES

With fall and winter fast approaching, it’s time to start thinking about how you’re going to heat your home.  With a gas fireplace fitted with gas logs in Dallas, TX, you can warm up any room in your home and create a cozy, welcoming atmosphere at the same time.  You could choose a traditional, wood-burning fireplace; but once you learn about gas fireplaces and everything they offer, the choice to go with gas will be a simple one.

Why Gas Is Better Than Wood
The main reason you should choose a gas fireplace with gas logs in Dallas, TX is that it will heat your home more efficiently than wood.  No matter what type of gas fireplace you choose – an insert used to retrofit an existing firebox or a brand-new built-in – you’ll get a room filled with a mix of warm air and radiant heat.  With a wood-burning fireplace, much of your heat will be lost through the chimney.  After heating efficiency, the reason to choose gas is convenience.  With gas fireplaces, you can have heat and flames with the flick of a switch, with no tending and minimal cleanup.  You won’t have to trudge outside in the cold to get wood, worry about the fire hazard that sparks from a wood fire create or sweep and bag ashes constantly.

Gas Fireplace Choices
Your gas fireplace can be fueled by either natural gas or propane.  Natural gas is slightly less expensive and produces a little more heat than propane.  If there is no natural gas available in your area, choose propane.  Your other option is a vented or a vent-free fireplace.  Vented fireplaces vent the fumes from the logs to the outside while vent-free fireplaces discharge all of their heat and exhaust into the house.  Once you’ve selected the type of fireplace you want, you should have technician certified by the National Fireplace Institute install it for you to ensure that it is safe and installed properly.

Where Gas Fireplaces Work Best
Gas fireplaces are the perfect choice for just about any room in your home, even rooms you hadn’t thought to heat with a gas fire.  Dining rooms, living rooms, bedrooms, bathrooms and even outdoor spaces can be outfitted with gas fireplaces to keep them warm in the winter time and if you choose vent-free, then you can put a fireplace anywhere without the restriction of outside access for venting.

Upgrades To Look For
These upgrades for your gas fireplace can make it work more efficiently and conveniently:
  ▪ An electronic ignition that eliminates the need for a pilot light, which will save you money in fuel costs
  ▪ A variable flame-height adjustment lets you set the height of the flames – and the heat output – with the turn of a dial
  ▪ A built-in fan that that pulls indoor air behind the firebox and pumps warm air out, which can warm a room up quickly
  ▪ A battery backup to ensure the fireplace will work – and give you heat – during a winter power outage

Gas Logs In Dallas TX: What You Need To Know About Gas Logs

With some North Texas stores stocking their shelves with Halloween candy and others even setting up Christmas tree displays, it could get you daydreaming about sitting in front of a crackling fireplace, sipping hot cocoa.  Cooler fall weather is coming so it’s time to go out and buy the cocoa and the gas logs in Dallas, TX.

Why gas logs and not real wood?  Because wood fires require constant attention, they’re messy, they pose a potential fire risk and, unless you live on a tree farm, getting and keeping a stack of firewood isn’t always easy or convenient.  Gas logs are maintenance-free, come in a variety of styles, can often be operated with a remote control and often put out twice as much heat as real wood.

According to the Chimney Safety Institute of America, there are some things you should know about the two types of gas logs on the market:
◆ Yellow-Flame Logs

Yellow-flame logs produce a realistic and attractive fire.  In fact, they’re often mistaken for real wood fires.  The heat output from yellow-flame logs is roughly comparable to the heat from a wood fire.  Yellow-flame logs are sometimes referred to as ‘vented’ logs because they require fireplace venting to be used safely.  They generate soot and carbon, which is deposited in your chimney, which will require regular chimney cleaning to prevent buildup.
◆ Blue-Flame Logs

Blue-flame logs are designed to produce a lot more heat than yellow-flame logs; but while they burn hotter, they also burn cleaner than yellow-flame gas logs in Dallas, TX.  Generally, blue-flame log fires aren’t as realistic or attractive as yellow-flame.  A special type of blue-flame log is called an ‘unvented’ or ‘vent-free’ gas log and may be approved for installation in a wood-burning fireplace with the damper closed or in a separate firebox cabinet without a chimney.

Both types of gas logs can be purchased to use either liquid propane (LP) or natural gas.  If your home already has gas appliances, like a stove or water heater, then you can purchase a natural gas log set.  Natural gas doesn’t burn as hot as liquid propane but it’s less expensive.  If you don’t have natural gas service to your home or in your area, you should choose a liquid propane log set.  LP burns three times hotter than natural gas; but, you’ll have to have an LP tank set up outside your home that will need to be refilled periodically.
